Saint Tropez

We've been to Saint Tropez long time ago, in the beautiful summer of 2004. I remember the luxury, the gorgeous boats and cars, the boobies all over the place (like us), but above all, I remember the sweet light, the small public beaches between the buildings, the feeling that everything is gonna be there forever (even is certain is not).

Some other famous things about Saint Tropez I'm sure you know:

"Sandales tropéziennes", simple, elegant and handmade, never go out of style, thanks to the celebrities who have worn them. This local footwear, made in genuine French leather that has been treated to resist salt water, is also interpreted with various designs and trends, as you will discover in the city's more upscale boutiques.
Two families make the tropéziennes sandals: Rondini and Keklikian (K. Jacques sandals). Even if some form of rivalry is unavoidable, no conflict like in Romeo and Juliet here, each with its specificities. The Rondini's are more in the traditional, while Keklikian are more "fashionable ". They created models for Karl Lagerfeld, Kenzo, Kookaï, Balenciaga, Lolita Lempicka, Givenchy, NafNaf, Paule Ka, JC de Castelbajac and Paco Rabanne. Twenty employees work in K. Jacques, and only a few in Rondini at the rear of the old shop on Rue Clemenceau.

B.B.: a generational film and style icon in the '60s, a libertarian, rule-breaking and counter-current spirit, the sensual promoter of the bikini on the beaches of Pampelonne, and the famous symbol of St. -Tropez, the movie star Brigitte Bardot created a scandal when she starred in the film "Et Dieu... créa la femme", shot here with her husband-producer Roger Vadim. Thanks also to this claim to fame, the city became even more established as a preferred destination for the Parisian well-off and the international jet-set. Once she retired from the silver screen, in 1970, B.B. became known for her activism for animal rights, as well as her extreme political positions. B.B. still has her villa here, La Madrague.
