Andalusia - Los Pueblos Blancos

How can you stay straight on the road when so many miracles are around you?
Los Pueblos Blancos (The White Villages),  are famous for their beautiful views and white houses. These seem to be inserted like bird nests into the mountains and are usually adorned by a castle. Every spring the houses are whitewashed, ushering in the season of growth and fertility and saying ‘hasta la vista' to the winter!

One of the most spectacularly placed from the white villages is Arcos de la Frontera, enjoying magnificent views over the Serranía de Ronda.
The town gained its name by being the frontier of Spain's 13th century battle with the Moors.

The sun went down and the light was so sweet... I had to pose a little bit.

Some history: many of these villages were founded by Berber tribes who settled in the area during the eight centuries of Moorish presence.

Because of the constant threat of attack, they chose sites which were high and easy to defend.

These are villages that seem to demand that you slow down the pace. One of the most popular sayings here is ‘how wonderful it is to do nothing and then to rest afterwards'!

If you really want to to fully submerge into the Andalucian countryside and Spanish way of life, this is the special route for your soul.

We arrived in Seville that evening loaded with energy! In the next day we walked from the hotel to the city old center a very loooong distance, but about that I'll be here again, with more and more beautiful pictures!
